Replication Terms

Site Links

Transport Either RPC (intersite and intrasite) or SMTP (intersite only)
Member sites Two or more sites that make up the link
Cost Used to configure which link is used if there are multiple links.  Lower the value the higher the priority
Schedule Times that replication will occur
Interval How often it happens.

Be careful scheduling.  If you have three sites (A, B and C) and the schedule is as follows:   A and B    7 AM to 8 AM,      B and C    2 PM to 4 PM

The data from A won't arrive in C until 2 PM--would make you think you have a problem with replication.

Bridgehead Servers

Single point of replication between sites.  Defined by the ISTG but you may create them manually.  Replication takes place between these servers as scheduled.

Site Link Bridge

Used for networks that are not fully routed.  Represent a logical path for replication between site not physically connected.  Cost is the sum of the cost for the included sites.
