Disk for DOS Network Client Protocol NWLink (IPX/SPX Compatible)

RealTek 8029 PCI network card  OS: Win98SE
DOS DRIVER IS PCIND.DOS  User: Administrator
DRIVERNAME=PCIND$ Password: password

Instructions for converting to your network card.

1. Format a floppy disk with Windows 98 and transfer the system files. The ONLY files you need are IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and COMMAND.COM.

3.  Extract the downloaded file to your floppy disk.

2. Locate the DOS drivers for your network card from your driver disk or CD. Or download them from the manufacturer's web site. The DOS drivers are typically in a NDIS or NDIS2 directory. Sometimes there is a DOS subdirectory. The drivers will have a .DOS file extension.

3. Locate and open the PROTOCOL.INI file on your network card driver disk or CD and note the value on the DRIVERNAME= line. It will end in a $

4. Delete the original DOS driver file from the NET directory on the floppy disk. Copy your DOS driver file to that directory.

5. Locate the PROTOCOL.INI file in the NET directory on the floppy disk and change the value of the DRIVERNAME= line to the value for your network card.

6. Locate the SYSTEM.INI file in the NET directory on the floppy disk and change the value of the NETCARD= line to the DOS file that you copied to the floppy.

7. Change the documentation at the beginning of the _README.TXT file on your new floppy disk to reflect the changes.

Don't forget to share a folder on your file server and you MUST have the NWLink or IPX/SPX protocol running on your machine.
