The Routing Table


Access the Routing Table by using either ROUTE PRINT or NETSTAT -R

 

Network Address--All the networks that this router knows about including entries for the default gateway, subnet and network broadcasts, loopback address and default multicast address.  

Netmask--Subnet mask for the associated network ID entry

Gateway Address-- Address where packets are sent if address is not local

Interface--IP address of machine--identifies the entry point tot he network

Metric--Cost or the number of hops associated with a route.
